The Aam Aadmi Party Navelim candidate
Pratima Coutinho stated that Congress candidate Avertano Furtado and the BJP have made a deal in Navelim and that voting for the Congress would mean supporting the BJP. Coutinho urged locals to support her who can be the voice of Navelim people.
She said, “Throughout the past 25 years, I have raised several issues on behalf of Navelim people, and the BJP has tried to suppress my voice. However, that has not discouraged me from raising my voice”.
What did Avertano Furtado do in the last five years for his constituents?, she asked. She explained that “there were many issues, such as the NH-17 issue, the offline exams issue and several others, but he didn’t come forward to speak for his constituents”, she said.
Further she said, “Avertano Furtado made a pact in 2012. He was an independent candidate and the BJP offered him the labour and fisheries ministries. He tried the same in 2017, but people voted him out. In the last five years he has only been working for his own advancement”.
“The BJP has already filed 12 cases against me, so Furtado’s act of bringing a defamation case against me is proof he comes from the same culture as the BJP. He is a woman hater, and I urge people not to support him because he is taking women down”, she added.
