WOMEN FEAR TO COME OUT DUE TO CHAIN SNATCHING IN ASSAGAO
PERNEM: There has been a spurt in petty crime in the village of Assagao. Fed up with this menace people approached the Anjuna police for redressal of their grievances.
On behalf of the people, North Goa District Congress Committee vice president Chandan Mandrekar along with Siolim Block Congress committee submitted a memorandum to Anjuna police regarding frequent chain snatching, bag snatching and thefts in Assagao village.
They stated that women are scared to come out of their homes due to thefts and chain snatching incidents. In one incident, Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress committee secretary Parvati Nagvekar was injured when some unknown person tried to snatch her bag while she was riding a two-wheeler.
